Entertainment Facilities Projects

Southern California is home to legends and legendary entertainment. Known for extremely fast-track schedules and complexity, many of California’s biggest and most famous landmarks have chosen Pan-

Pacific to team up with them for construction. We have built a vast range of Entertainment Facilities including major motion picture sound stages, concert halls, thrill rides and sports complexes. Our years of experience have enabled us to keep these projects on their tight schedules.

Pan-Pacific Plumbing & Mechanical projects

Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, CA

General Contractor:  Turner Construction

Year of Completion:   1998

Phase I of renovations to Anaheim Stadium began in October 1996, reverting the 30-year old structure back to a baseball-only facility. The total cost for the stadium renovation was estimated at $100 million and the project was completed in time for the Angels Opening Day, April 1, 1998.  Based on this strict schedule, Pan-Pacific worked hand-in-hand with the Contractor and other trades (around the clock when needed) to ensure on-time completion.

Shortly thereafter, Phase II began including new concessions, restrooms and a seismic upgrade. Pan-Pacific was able to offer flexible hours and immediate response to all construction needs of this complex job.
During this renovation, Pan-Pacific helped add new restroom and concession areas and three full-service restaurants: The KnotHole Club; The Diamond Club; and the Homeplate Club.

LegoLand California - Carlsbad, CA

General Contractor:  Bernards
Year of Completion:  1998

Delivery Method: Design-Assist

LEGOLAND® California is a 128-acre interactive theme park dedicated to families with children between the ages of 2 and 12 located in Carlsbad, California.  Pan-Pacific was an integral part of the construction of this unique theme park building interactive water features, restrooms, restaurants and more.

Instrumental in this project was the ability to stay on-track and committed to the tight schedule in order to deliver the park on time for an advertised opening date.  Pan-Pacific lead the Owner and Contractor through the process from Plans and Specs to a Design-Assist approach in order to ensure the job would be completed on time. We are proud to know that our innovative design and construction experience ensured the completion for the desired opening date.

Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, CA

General Contractor:  Mortenson Construction

Year of Completion:  2003

This Frank Gehry designed building was the idea of Lillian Disney who wanted to give a world-class performance venue as a gift to the people of Los Angeles and as a tribute to Walt Disney’s devotion to the arts.

This unique $274 million structure includes no standard angles or dimensions and made construction challenging.  All the construction was completed in sections meaning many trades were working in the same area at the same time, making things slightly more challenging.

Always ready to adjust to changing needs and challenging situations, Pan-Pacific jumped in with problem-solving, forward-thinking, proactive approaches to constructability and kept the plumbing portion humming along to provide a fully-functional concert hall.

Dodger Stadium - Los Angeles, CA

General Contractor:  Gordon & Williams

Year of Completion: 2000

Installing new facilities attached to one of the oldest existing ballparks in baseball is no short task. Add to that a very short schedule, and you have a fast-tract, complicated project – one that Pan-Pacific can excel at.

A large part of the project was investigating and documenting existing plumbing systems that had been installed over the years but weren’t part of any standard plans. We coordinated the required routing of systems and documented all piping to make the construction run smoothly.

New expanded sections of dugout seats, a beautiful Dugout Club with an amazing kitchen and eating area and new field level seats were added during two different off-seasons. Pan-Pacific’s experience in this fast-paced type of construction made us an invaluable member of the construction team.

Disney’s Grizzly Peak Recreational area and Grizzly River Run - Anaheim, CA

General Contractor:  Clark Construction
Year of Completion: 2001

Grizzly Peak, a man-made mountain resembling a Grizzly Bear, is the centerpiece of Disney’s California Adventure. Grizzly Peak also houses Grizzly River Run, a large rapids ride through a mining camp at the mountain.

The raft trip around Grizzly Peak is a unique flume-style ride. Unlike traditional tandem seating log rides, these circular rafts spin unpredictability and add to the surprise of who will get wet next.  On Grizzly Peak, getting wet is part of the fun!

Working in the middle of a construction zone has its challenges, but working in the middle of a construction zone at a Disney park has unique challenges. High security, strict coordination of deliveries, stacking of trades, parking issues . . . .  Nothing, of course, that Pan-Pacific can’t handle. We are proud to have been a part of this exciting new structure and thrill ride during the initial construction of this premiere Southern California Theme Park.

Jurassic Park: The Ride, Universal City, CA

General Contractor:  Turner Construction

Year of Completion: 1996

A true thrill ride at Universal Studios Hollywood! Riders come face to face with “living” dinosaurs and then experience an 84-foot death-defying raft plunge. This water-based amusement ride opened in June of 1996 to the joy of California thrill-ride enthusiasts.

This fantastic adventure ride holds 1.5 million gallons of water, encompasses 6 acres of land and has 15 animatronic dinosaurs. The project included 20 foot-deep storm drain pipe, a complex infrastructure around the ride and a tight schedule. We were “thrilled” to be a part of the project which went smoothly on all accounts.

Disney’s Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage - Anaheim, CA

General Contractor: Turner Construction
Year of Completion:  2007

Replacing the original Disneyland Submarine Voyage ride, Disney’s Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage is a unique mix of underwater voyage and Disney/Pixar film in 6.3 million gallons of water.

The ride itself is 14 minutes long and features 126 animatronic figures, 180 still figures, 10,000 plants, 23,000 pieces of artificial coral and animated underwater scenes created by Disney Imagineers and Pixar Animators.

Pan-Pacific met each of the challenges this job offered head-on and were proud to be part of the “voyage.”
