Pan-Pacific Plumbing & Mechanical projects

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Anaheim, CA

Contractor:  Turner Construction

Year of Completion: 2001

Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is a AAA Four Diamond Hotel located at the Disneyland Resort. The hotel was added as part of a major expansion of the Disneyland Resort in 2001.  The hotel itself is based on the Arts and Crafts Movement of the early 1900s, but the amenities are state of the art.

With more than 700 rooms in the first phase and a very tight and demanding schedule, Pan-Pacific had 70 men on the job during its peak. The job had its challenges – working near a Theme Park with tough security, parking issues, multiple contracts and a hard opening date – but nothing we couldn’t handle.

The project included theme restaurants, a large lobby, kitchens, banquet facilities, a room service kitchen and high-end fixtures for the resort rooms.

We were proud to receive a “Contractor of the Year Award” from Turner for our outstanding performance on this job.

St. Regis Resort, Monarch Beach, CA

Contractor: Hensel Phelps Construction Company
Year of Completion:  2001
Delivery Method:  Design-Build

The St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort is a 5-star hotel with panoramic ocean views in Dana Point.  This amazing resort was a demanding and tight-schedule project that put all of Pan-Pacific’s skills to the test. A Design-Build project utilizing tunnel form construction, it included a world class spa, over 400 rooms, banquet facilities, lobby, kitchens, restaurants and multiple room service kitchens.

This was Pan-Pacific’s first job with general contractor Hensel Phelps. Since then, and because of our exceptional service on the project, we are proud to have teamed with them for many more.
Because of our knowledge of the project and our commitment to customer service, we have maintained a strong working relationship with the St. Regis and have been a proud partner with them for any plumbing issues, upgrades and additions.

Beverly Hills Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA

Contractor: Peck/Jones

Year of Completion: 1995

Delivery Method: Design-Assist/Design-Build

Since its opening in 1912, the “Pink Palace” has been a landmark in Beverly Hills, CA.  The 12-acre campus has over 250 guest rooms including 21 spectacular Bungalows.  The resort is home to the world famous Polo Lounge restaurant, a relaxing spa and many other facilities that every movie star needs!

In the main building, Pan-Pacific replaced every piece of pipe above and below ground.  The renovation was a challenging Design-Assist project which included an update of all existing plumbing fixtures and piping. The main challenge was to fit more and larger piping inside the ceilings without any increase to the height of the building because of its historical landmark status. Intense coordination with all trades was imperative.

The success of the renovation of the main building led to a redesign and renovation of the existing Bungalows.  Pan-Pacific was one of the few subcontractors to be asked to continue on the project as the Bungalow renovation began. We utilized Design-Build during the renovation to take advantage of our experience and improve installation to ensure a smooth and timely completion of the project.

Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa, Huntington Beach, CA

Contractor: PCL

Year of Completion: 2003

Delivery Method: Design-Build

Hyatt on the sand in Huntington Beach is an impressive 4-star luxury Design-Build project with over 500 rooms, a world-class spa, banquet facilities, lobby, four kitchens, theme restaurants and room service area.

Pan-Pacific was a late addition to the project arriving a year after the other trades, putting us seriously behind in the design schedule. However, because of our extensive experience with resort projects, we were able to recover the time lost and maintain the construction schedule without a hitch assuring a timely completion of the project.

The project had multiple issues to stay in compliance with the Coastal Commission and because of its location next to an environmentally sensitive wetlands area. Since the completion of the project, we have maintained a close relationship with the facility operators to help the Owners with their goal to maintain an eco-friendly relationship with their community and its environment.

Terranea Resort and Spa, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

Contractor: Turner Construction

Year of Completion: 2009

Delivery Type: Design-Assist

Terranea Resort and Spa located in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA is a breathtaking 102-acre coastal resort boasting of 582 rooms with 32 suites, 20 oceanfront bungalows, 50 ocean-view casitas and 32 villas.  Along with housing options, the campus is also home to a 9-hole, family-oriented golf course, a main ballroom, pools, restaurants, a spa and fitness center and a dramatic Point Bar.

The beautiful resort was a Design-Assist project utilizing Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and multiple contracts.  One design innovation on the resort included using a Sovent system to greatly reduce the amount of pipe to install. We used our expertise to bring additional innovations and value engineering ideas to help the owner maintain his budget and cut costs when possible.

W Hotel and Residences, Hollywood, CA

Contractor: Webcor Builders

Year of Completion: 2010

Delivery Method: Design-Build

The luxury 12-story hotel and 15-story condo project is located at Hollywood and Vine.  This project involved multiple contracts for multiple Owners, and included over 300 hotel rooms, many luxury condo units, a work-out area, roof-top night club and pool, outdoor movie facility, spa and parking structure.

The W Hollywood Residences is constructed to be one of the first and largest LEED-certified properties in Los Angeles and is completely dedicated to contributing to a green conscious community and a cleaner environment.  This led to unique challenges that Pan-Pacific was proud to be a partner on.

Design changes on this project occurred throughout all phases of construction up to the very end. Pan-Pacific was able to continually meet the demanding pace and numerous changes through good management of documents, coordination with other trades and timely suggestions to the Owner which helped with economically sensitive and schedule related decisions involved with each change.
